Papua New Guinea’s Arabica coffee thrives in the country’s fertile highlands, and contains some of the world’s most pristine typica coffee (variety). Once harvested, Monpi Coffee, a leading miller and exporter based in Garoka and Mt. Hagen works to elevate quality through partnerships with stations like the Kindeng Wet Mill, where carefully selected cherries undergo full natural drying that can take a month. The coffee is then milled at Monpi’s Kagamuga facility and exported from Garoka. Beyond processing, Monpi’s Sustainability Management Service supports smallholders with training in sustainable farming, gender equality, youth inclusion, and environmental stewardship, while also developing a nursery to provide improved plant stock and strengthen future productivity.
